A Rally for Solidarity – Jan 8
From the Ground Up, a grassroots coalition of diverse Upstate individuals and nonprofit organizations, is sponsoring a public rally in downtown Greenville on Sunday, January 8, 3 p.m. The rally will show support for, and solidarity among, the most vulnerable people in our community. (Pastors Matt and TJ, as well as several members and friends of St. Giles, are planning to attend).
The rally will include local clergy representing multiple faith communities; members of Greenville’s African-American, Hispanic, Muslim, Jewish, LGBTQ, and immigrant communities; local political leaders: educators and students; non-profit leaders; creatives; business owners; healthcare providers; and parents, grandparents, children, and neighbors. The organizers hope for a strong showing of the general public.
From the Ground Up was founded to address the needs and concerns of refugees and undocumented immigrants; racial, ethnic, and religious minorities; members of the LGBTQ community; people with disabilities and adverse health conditions; people affected by unemployment, poverty, and homelessness; and all who feel isolated or vulnerable.
