Today we recall the HOPE we have in Jesus Christ.
Advent means “coming.”
We light this candle as a sign of the coming hope and light of Christ.
The prophet Isaiah in chapter 2, verses 4 and 5,
looks forward to hope for all people in the birth of Christ:
“They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
Come O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord."
We light the Candle of Hope.
Let us pray:
Eternal God, in the gift of your Son Jesus
you have promised us a future and a hope.
We hope in you, O God. We wait in hope.
In the name of Jesus, the Light of the world,
shine in our lives and shine among us now.
