The second candle of Advent is the Candle of Peace.
It is sometimes called the Bethlehem Candle
to remind us of the place in which preparations
were made to receive and cradle the Christ child.
In Chapter 11, verse 6, the prophet Isaiah looks forward to the peace of God
given in the birth of Christ that through the Messiah…
“The wolf shall lie down with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the kid,
The calf and the lion and the fatling together,
And a little child shall lead them."
We light the Candle of Hope.
We light the Candle of Peace.
Let us pray:
God of Hope,
let the light of your love shine in our hearts this and every day,
that we may serve as instruments of your PEACE in all of life.
Help us to work for truth, compassion, justice, and peace- near and far-
for all your children.
the Prince of Peace and the Hope of the World.
