Theater & Theology: Unpacking "The Book of Mormon"
The hit Broadway musical The Book of Mormon is returning to the Peace Center March 5-10. Despite its name, the show contains significant theological themes that can inform and challenge people of all faiths. Those who plan to attend the show are invited to a Theater & Theology discussion with Pastor TJ on Thursday, March 21 from 7:00-8:30pm at Starla & Mark Taylor's home. Note that our discussion will examine the theology of the musical, as opposed to the Mormon faith itself. Also, the musical contains explicit language and is definitely intended for mature audiences only. To RSVP for the discussion, please contact TJ.
The Christian Education Committee, in seeking to support the congregation in faith formation, is excited to provide Lenten devotions to use throughout our Lenten journey. (Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 6 and continues through Holy Week and Easter Sunday on April 21).
• Families with Children and Youth - a copy of the “Lent 2019 Calendar” was placed in narthex mailboxes. Each day’s entry in this family-friendly devotional calendar invites participants to explore the traditional Lenten disciplines of prayer, fasting, or service.
• For Adults - a limited number of “Psalms for Lent” booklets are available in the narthex on a first-come, first-serve basis. These devotions, written by Jane Wilke, offer a daily walk through the psalms as we journey toward Holy Week and Easter.
