Mark your calendars for our 2019 Adult Summer Series which kicks off THIS Sunday, May 26!
Series 1 (May 26-June 30): This series views the Lord’s Supper as being God’s promise of love to us in Jesus Christ. The initial class, on May 26 (yes, Memorial Day weekend for those in town) will explore the invitation we receive to gather at the Table. The remaining five weeks will further focus on the theme of “Coming to the Table.”
Series 2 (Sundays in July): During the four Sundays in July, we will explore the power of prayer. Our principal resource will be the movie, The War Room. This series will be rich in discussion as we address how prayer can, and will, become a driving force in facing today’s challenges.
Series 3 (Sundays in August): In our highly-charged time of debate and division, our final summer study looks at Civility, using resources from The Thoughtful Christian to help us think about how we discuss key issues of this time. Our focus will be on the four virtues of civility and the principles of civility that is found in Christianity.
For May, our Movie Matinee group will see POMS starring Diane Keaton and Rhea Perlman. The group will meet Wednesday, May 29, 1:55pm in the lobby (come about 15 minutes early) at Regal Cinema Cherrydale. Please let Linda Reinke know if you will be coming or if you have any questions.
Witness & Mission Committee is excited to announce that we will be having a Rise Against Hunger event on June 2nd! Please stay after church to pack 10,000 meals for hungry people. A light lunch will be served in the gym, and then we will package meals in the fellowship hall. Please consider contributing to this worthwhile event. Each meal costs $0.35, much less than a cup of coffee! Childcare will be provided for younger children; older children are welcome to participate. To sign up please click here.
